Rookhope is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It offers many activities such as rambling, cycling and in winter, offers good skiing! You don't have to be an outdoor buff to enjoy the area as fresh air and peace and quiet is all around to recharge the batteries, a perfect get away break! The village is also on the C2C cycle route, and there are a number of walking routes in the area.

 

Within easy reach is the market town of Stanhope, which is situated in the beautiful Wear Valley and offers the Durham Dales Centre, housing tourist information, a coffee shop, local arts and crafts. The town also has a selection of pubs, specialist food stores, art gallery, outdoor swimming pool and pleasant riverside walks.

 

Hexham, another market town is nearby where you will find antique shops, and within driving distance are the famous Hadrian’s Wall, Hamsterley Forest, Killhope Lead Mining Museum, Barnard Castle, and the wonderful cathedral city of Durham.
